About SiamNomad — what is live, what is curated, what is sample

SiamNomad is an independent, free, bilingual guide to living and working remotely in Thailand, covering 35 cities and islands across 13 categories. It has no ads. Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify individuals.

Which data on SiamNomad is live?

Which numbers are curated estimates?

The 13 category scores, monthly cost figures, internet speeds, rent and accommodation bands, and coworking counts are researched editorial estimates. They are not survey data and no free key-less API publishes them. They are labelled as estimates throughout the site.

How is the overall score calculated?

The overall score is never hand-typed. It is computed at load time as a weighted blend of the other twelve categories, using these published weights:

Overall-score weights
CategoryWeight
Internet16%
Cost14%
Safety10%
Coworking10%
Healthcare8%
Community8%
Food7%
Weather7%
English7%
Transit6%
Nightlife4%
Beach access3%

The weights sum to 1 and are guarded at runtime, so a typo cannot silently skew every city.

Which content is sample data?

Member profiles, meetups and community reviews are sample content shown as a product preview, and are labelled as such wherever they appear. They are not real user submissions and are never presented as ratings.
